What is NFP?
A FREE PROGRAM TO SUPPORT FIRST-TIME MOTHERS AND THEIR BABIES.
Nurse-Family Partnership is a free program for new moms who are pregnant with their first baby. When you enroll in the program, you will be connected to a registered nurse who will provide the support, advice and information you need to have a healthy pregnancy, a healthy baby, and be a great mom.
Once your baby arrives, your NFP nurse will work with you on breastfeeding, nutrition, child development, safe-sleep techniques, and much more.
Your free personal nurse can help answer all your questions!
These services are completely free of charge. You must be 28 weeks pregnant or less with your first baby and meet certain income eligibility requirements! Don’t forget that you can enroll as soon as you find out you are pregnant!

What is NFP?
Nurse-Family Partnership is a program that pairs first-time mothers with nurses, who can help them have a healthy pregnancy, provide expert advice and support from pregnancy and beyond.
How much does NFP cost?
Nothing. It’s completely free!
How often will I meet with my nurse?
You and your nurse will decide the exact schedule.
Who can sign up for the program?
Women of any age who:
- Are pregnant with their first baby
- Meet income requirements
- Are less than 29 weeks pregnant (but your nurse is ready to help if you want to enroll in the early stages of your pregnancy)
What does my nurse do?
Your nurse helps you to:
- Have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby
- Become the best mom you can be
- Build a strong network of support for you and your baby
- Make your home a safe place for your baby to live and play
- Get referrals for healthcare, childcare, job training, and other support services available in your community
- Find ways to continue your education and develop job skills
- Set goals for your family’s future and find ways to help you reach them
What happens if halfway through the program I decide I do not want to continue?
Our program is completely voluntary.
Can my family and/or baby’s father participate in the program with me?
Absolutely! NFP encourages the baby’s father, family members and even friends to be involved in the program and to learn how they can best support you, the mother. You decide who you want to be involved in the program with you.
Can I refer a friend or family member to NFP?
Yes. We encourage you to do so, but please be aware that she must also meet eligibility requirements: 29 weeks or less (your nurse would love to work with you as early in your pregnancy as possible), pregnant with first baby, and income eligibility.
