DENVER, CO (March 20, 2018) — Nurse-Family Partnership ® (NFP) – a national program serving first-time moms and their children living in poverty – announced Tuesday that Sarah McGee has been promoted to chief policy & government affairs officer at the NFP National Service Office.
McGee has served as the acting executive director for policy & government affairs since September 2017. For over 10 years, she has built Nurse-Family Partnership’s government affairs department and has held several positions leading federal policy and advocacy. For the past three years, McGee was the national director of advocacy and expanded Nurse-Family Partnership’s grassroots network in states and local communities to show the impact of Nurse-Family Partnership to elected officials and stakeholders. In her first years at Nurse-Family Partnership, her legislative work helped lead to the creation of the first dedicated federal funding stream for home visiting – the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program.
Before joining Nurse-Family Partnership, McGee was legislative director for Beacon Consulting Group, Inc. – a government affairs consulting firm in Washington, DC.
“Sarah is a proven advocate for our moms and babies, and has spent the last decade fighting to make their voices heard before Congress,” said Frank Daidone, president and CEO of Nurse-Family Partnership. “Her expertise has been critical to the success and growth of Nurse-Family Partnership. We are fortunate to have her leading Nurse-Family Partnership’s national public policy agenda.”
As chief policy & government affairs officer, McGee will lead her department in securing sustainable public funding and policies for Nurse-Family Partnership’s local network partners at the state and local level. She will strengthen Nurse-Family Partnership’s relationships with key Congressional leaders and national policymakers; and build support to grow Nurse-Family Partnership’s capacity to reach more moms and babies.
McGee holds a bachelor’s degree in international affairs with a minor in French from the University of Colorado Boulder, and has a graduate certificate in legislative studies from Georgetown University. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland.
