DENVER, CO (September 29, 2017) – Nurse-Family Partnership®, a national, evidence-based home visiting program serving first-time moms and their children living in poverty, has announced its receipt of a $180,000 grant from the Joey Logano Foundation of Charlotte, North Carolina, in conjunction with the third annual Chasing Second Chances Program. Chasing Second Chances runs in collaboration with NASCAR’s Playoffs, where an organization from each race market is selected to receive a grant with a focus on providing a second chance to youth in crisis. This weekend at Dover International Speedway in Delaware, the Joey Logano Foundation will announce its partnership with Nurse-Family Partnership.

Founded by North Carolina-based NASCAR race car driver Joey Logano in 2013, the foundation’s mission, “to invest in organizations offering second chances to children and young adults during times of crisis and works to inspire others to live a life of generosity,” aligns directly with Nurse-Family Partnership’s vision—a future where all children are healthy, families thrive, communities prosper and the cycle of poverty is broken.

“We are honored to partner with the Joey Logano Foundation in positively affecting change for young children and first-time families,” says Frank Daidone, interim president & CEO at Nurse-Family Partnership. “We at Nurse-Family Partnership deeply appreciate the foundation’s commitment to supporting organizations, such as ours, who serve vulnerable families and respond to the needs of communities nationwide. This generous grant will allow us to serve even more families and ensure first-time mothers and their children in our program continue to thrive.”

“With the Nurse-Family Partnership, we’re hoping that through a solid first opportunity, we’ll have mothers and children who won’t need a second chance. In the future, these individuals will be able to provide second chances to others in need,” said Logano.

The Joey Logano Foundation’s investment in Nurse-Family Partnership will support the organization to positively transform the lives of vulnerable babies, mothers and families nationwide. Through gifts such as these, Nurse-Family Partnership provides leadership in the field of evidence-based, home visitation programs for the families it serves.

Since its inception, the Joey Logano Foundation has invested over $1M in organizations across the United States. It has responded to the needs of communities across the country and strives to create supportive communities and raise awareness for children and young adults in crisis, through the public platform of motorsports.
