DENVER, COLO. (July 27, 2022) — The National Service Office (NSO) for Nurse-Family Partnership® and Child First announced today that Michele Werner has been named chief philanthropy officer. Werner first joined NSO in 2019 serving as director of institutional partnerships. Werner brings more than 20 years of fundraising experience including special events, corporate and foundation giving, annual giving and major gifts and communications.
Charlotte Min-Harris, interim president and CEO of the National Service Office for Nurse-Family Partnership and Child First said, “The NSO is thrilled to have Michele lead our Philanthropy team. She has a wide range of healthcare fundraising experience and a background in grassroots civic engagement and healthcare policy. These skills will assist the organization in pursuing partnerships with foundations, corporations and public institutions that will advance NSO’s mission as well as its financial bottom line.”
In her new role as chief philanthropy officer, Werner will lead the team’s comprehensive philanthropic program including institutional and individual giving, public grants and annual giving. “I am honored to join the executive leadership team for the National Service Office for Nurse-Family Partnership and Child Frist and to have the privilege of leading our outstanding and committed team of philanthropy professionals,” said Werner.
Previously in her career, Werner served as a vice president at the American Heart Association after spending 11 years at Virginia Hospital Center as director of development. While her work over her tenure supported projects across a wide range of medical specialties, Werner is passionate about raising support for initiatives that provide access to care to individuals and families affected by social and economic inequality.
Werner is a graduate of George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She has been a longtime member and former leader of the Arlington Women’s Civic Alliance, a graduate of Leadership Arlington and member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Werner resides in Arlington, VA with her husband, Geoff and son, Jackson. Her daughter, Hannah, lives in Nashville, TN and is a public relations account executive. In her spare time, Werner loves to travel and practice yoga.
