DENVER, CO (June 25, 2019)Nurse-Family Partnership ®, a national program serving first-time moms and their children living in poverty, is pleased to announce the appointment of Cathy Cooney, former chief people officer at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc., and David Perez, former president and CEO of Terumo BCT, to the Nurse-Family Partnership National Board of Directors.

“Cathy brings a wealth of experience in managing change and nurturing strong organizational culture to the Nurse-Family Partnership Board of Directors,” said Christian Soura, chair of the board. “She also brings a powerful commitment to NFP’s values and mission. We are lucky to have her.”

Cooney, who lives in Carbondale, Colo., is originally from Kansas City. Her career has taken her from working in human resources at PepsiCo and Frito-Lay to the medical technology company CareFusion, where she was executive vice president of human resources before joining the executive team at Red Robin. Cooney recently completed her professional certification in the field of executive coaching through Georgetown University.

Perez, who recently retired, led Terumo BCT, a subsidiary of Terumo Corp., for nearly two decades as president, CEO and chairman. Under his leadership, the company’s revenues increased nearly six-fold and several innovative products were developed that improved blood transfusion and cellular therapies. Perez lives in Lonetree, Colo., with his wife, Karen.

“David’s skills in building data-driven operations in the complex arena of health care and his strong support for Nurse-Family Partnership will provide valuable expertise to the board in the coming years,” said Soura. “We look forward to working together.”

Nurse-Family Partnership’s National Board of Directors is comprised of dedicated professionals from across the country who volunteer their time and skills to the program to help first-time parents succeed and expand the program’s services to more low-income families. The directors provide governance, stewardship and leadership to help NFP advance its mission.

“I have spent my career helping people develop their talents and achieve their goals, and I look forward to continuing that work with Nurse-Family Partnership, an organization that I greatly admire,” said Cooney.
